Arthur Barnwell, Sr. is a Charleston, SC native that became a certified Electronic Technician from the United Electronic Institute on November 20, 1970. He worked for Xerox Corporation until he retired after 37 years of service where he was known as a “Xerox Customer Hero” for his dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction and loyalty. Although not required, Mr. Barnwell would wear a tie to work as a sign of unwavering pride and professionalism.
The Arthur Barnwell, Sr. Scholarship was established under the will of Charleen Melissa Barnwell in memory of her dad.
Mr. Barnwell believed that getting a trade or certification provided the best avenue towards success and fulfillment. More importantly, Mr. Barnwell was a proud man of God, with an infectious smile.
The Arthur Barnwell, Sr. Scholarship is a post-secondary education book scholarship for working students who exemplify the values defined by Arthur Barnwell, Sr. The amount is $500 for books and supplies.
The Arthur Barnwell Sr. Scholarship Application for the 2026-2027 academic school year begins on December 15, 2025 and ends on April 1, 2026
